I used a photo reference for this image mainly because I wanted the morphing of Asher to be as close to a real body shape of a woman. V4 can often act as a good starting point but often falls flat when it comes to real shapes. A lot of time was spent playing with Dynamic Clothing Control - it's interesting how many ways you can drape a piece of clothing. The possibilities are endless.

Have spent the last few weeks exploring Reality 1.0 and Lux Render. I love the fact that it is an unbiased renderer, but the time it takes to render is somewhat laborious. This took 43 hours to render and is half the size of my normal output. Size rendered 1272 x 1798 - 2128s/px.

I love the shaders but its hard to tell what you might get until late in the render. The preview function is a good guide, but we need something more substantial - a larger size preview perhaps? Would be good to be able to do spot renders, but I guess it wouldn't be accurate as it needs to calculate the whole scene.

Spent quite some time in Poser's cloth room (Sshodan's Robes), but since I work primarily in DAZ Studio, there was a lot of going back and forth between applications. I hear that OptiTex are releasing Dynamic Clothing for Mac - so fingers crossed it will be sometime soon.
Products used: (DAZ) V4 with custom morph, (Blackhearted) GND4, (Red House Studios) Celebrations for Baroque Grandeur, (Arrin) Angelina High Heels, (Corvas) SimpleDetails V4LITE, (Sshodan) Robes for V4, (Valea) Misty Veil Hair.

As well as using the aperture on the camera, I used Dreamlights Mood Master to soften the background a little, so that the focus is on the figure. There was quite a lot of postwork just to make M4 look not so much like M4. And also to Stonemason's Streets of the Mediterranean so that it looked less geometric and less 'straight'. Overall, I had fun with this piece, and learned a lot in the process!
Have mixed and matched with others to add a little more interest. Required some extra texturing - all of which was shaded with Human Surface Shader to give it that little more impact. Also added some displacment maps to add more definition. Tried rendering it with several backgrounds but didn't want to lose the silhouette of the body, so ended up as a 'fantasy fashion' shot. Spent quite a lot of time using the depth of field on the camera - probably too subtle to even notice. Usually this is something I would add with postwork, so it was good not having to postwork that in, plus its a more accurate depth of field. I rendered this at quite a high resolution to capture the detail of the texturing. Rendered in DAZ Studio with postwork in Photoshop.
My heroes Aery Soul have provided the bulk of it, I love the way they provide 3D content that you can really manipulate to suit your needs. It's a combination of Black Lotus, Masquerade Eve, ElvenStrapped and Classic Fantasy. The rest of the outfit comprises of Angeluz Fantasy Armour by Vampir3Princess and Lesthat, and Lioness by Royloo.
